Nik’s Early HDR Processing

  1. HDR capture produces 2 hidden problems. Darker images contain noise. Images may contain chromatic aberration (colored lines a few pixels wide at the sharp edge of objects). After shooting in manual, I usually cleanup noise, CA, and sharpen the 0 EV shot, then synchronize other shots to those values.
  2. HDR creation – combine all images to create a 32 bit TIF file. At present, you should purchase a plug-in for this process. I prefer Nik’s HDR Efex Pro because of its realism and the range of presets which create the first step in my CFAM process.
